Travis Hickman and Hickman Boat Works

We are a full service restoration shop commited to the art of restoring and preserving antique and vintage wooden boats as well as the design and building of new wooden boats. I started this buisness 25 years ago with a passion for wooden boats that has continued to grow. We offer traditional repair and restoration methods or more modern methods of construction such as cold molding and vacuum bagging. I can generate a 3-D model of your dream wooden boat, and then cut the frame work on our Techno CNC Router. This is a really fast and efficient method of producing the frames to a level of accuracy difficult to achieve on a band saw. Our methods and machinery are state-of-the-art today, however I learned my trade by crawling around on the lofting floor, fussing over full size loftings developed by hand, picking up the lines, cutting the patterns on an old 36" Crescent band saw that was built in 1903. Hand fairing the frames, spiling the planking, I learned the traditional methods first. You don't have to have a CNC router and the skills to use it to build a wooden boat, but it is definitely faster, and in today's market, saving the customer money while providing a quality product, is the name of the game.
Thanks for visiting.
